STBN is managed by a voluntary executive committe consisting of members from local business who provide the basis of our organisation.

Our current Executive Committee consists of;

ROBERT ASKEW - PRESIDENT

Graduated in Chemical Engineering from Bradford University in 1971, and went to work in Germany as a process development engineer. became a  Chartered Engineer and returned to the UK after 5 years. Continued to work in real Jobs at Durham Chemicals and Sterling Organics until 1981. At this point, I threw caution to the wind and started a Security Alarm business (TEC Security). Sold TEC and took over the family business, Tyneside Leathercrafts in 1989.
Batteled foreign competition until 2006 at which point we closed down the manufacturing side and formed current business, Border Leathercrafts Ltd.
Founding Member and Past President of Cleadon Rotary Club, Ex vice chair of NECC (ST branch), Founder director of STMF.

PETER BRUMBY - CHAIRMAN

Peter is a local accountant with Charlton& Co, South Shields, with over 40 years experience in this industry. As Chairman, Peter chair's Executive and monthly members meetings of STBN. In addition to his role with STBN, Peter is also Vice Chair of Business Clubs North East Ltd and Chairman of the South Tyneside Committee of the North East Chamber of Commerce .

EDDIE CZESTOCHOWSKI - DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

Eddie's company Cell Pack Solutions Ltd specialises in solving battery problems . The company was established in 1998 and over this time has won many awards for its Websites and Innovation through Technology. Eddie is a keen believer in getting involved in the local business community and is also a founder member of the South Tyneside Manufacturers Forum

BERNICE ROBINSON - EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Bernice is the owner of two local hairdressing and beauty salons,  Rainbows Hair & Beauty and Unique Hair Design. Within the Network Bernice has responsibility for fundraising, social activities and networking events on behalf of the organisation.

BIL THOMPSON, FCA - EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Bil is the Director of Arbeia Business Centre a centre which provides a comprehensive range of business support, advice and office facilities, particularly aimed at start up and micro businesses. As well as this Bil is also Principal of William L Thompson & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers. On the STBN Executive, Bil has responsibility for administration and financial activities.

GORDON HANNAH- EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Gordon is currently the Senior Networking and Mentoring Champion for TEDCO, supporting businesses in South Tyneside. 

 

Prior to joining TEDCO Gordon had  worked in corporate sales for both Mercedes Benz and BMW following a career in the Durham Constabulary. 

 

During his time at TEDCO Gordon has been working closley with businesses in the area encouraging them  to communicate with each other on a face-to-face basis and has seen first hand the power of networking. His work to develop business opportunites outside the area, for local businesses, recently culminated in Gordon assisting a twenty eight strong market visit to China and Hong Kong last year.

DAVID BAXTER - EXECUTIVE MEMBER

After leaving school David spent 12 years in retail with Boots the Chemist before moving into direct sales in the Pharmaceutical industry, selling over the counter medicines into retail pharmacies. These were the days when “Account Executives” & “Business Development Managers” had Sales Representative on their business card!

In 1988 David attended a Dale Carnegie Training Programme which changed his career direction entirely. After completing intensive Instructor training, David joined the business as a self-employed associate and both sold & delivered Dale Carnegie Programmes and In House training nationally for many organisations. He has been self-employed ever since.

In 2006 David & his wife, Pat formed a limited company, Marckell Business Solutions Ltd., to open a printing.com franchise in South Tyneside. Current plans include combining the two businesses to introduce a more holistic approach to sales & marketing by providing the design & printing of marketing materials together with the practical sales & presentation skills to help clients gain business.

Born, bred & still living in South Shields David is committed to working in partnership with South Tyneside people & organisations.

CHRISTINE PRUDHOE - EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Christine is a Director of davis prudhoe ltd, a business management company that specialises in HR, employment law, training and mediation. In 2009 Christine formed the company with her business partner Margaret Davis and with over thirty years of senior management experience between them, davis prudhoe ltd has become established in the South Tyneside area as providing good, quality and affordable HR support to local companies.
Christine is also a qualified mediator.
